The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum will sweep and vacuum your floors without your involvement. It also leaves clean. Its affordable price and high-end functions (such as dirt detectors) are positives.
Be sure to examine the brushes of your robot for hair tangled and large debris and wash them if required. Some models will also empty the onboard dustbin and deposit it in a larger bin located at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro

The Q5 Pro and its sibling, the pricier Q7 Max Series, are among the most powerful robot vacuums we've examined. They have motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobots (including the most powerful model) they employ smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like cords and furniture leg. The robots also feature a feature called Carpet Boost which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on bare floors and are especially adept in cleaning hair from dogs. However, they do have several flaws that prevent them from being our top choice. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is that its navigation system does not have AI-powered obstacles avoidance. It's therefore prone to getting stuck on socks and shoes, and it couldn't navigate rooms with lots of people well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that can see around corners.
It's still a great deal, especially if your office or home has a lot of unfinished floors and you want to save money. It's also extremely quiet and operates while you are at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the pricier iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on floors that aren't clean. It's also less effective at mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying dock, though. If you need to mop, the mopping pad can be swapped for one that is wet in just a few minutes.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 packs impressive vacuuming and mopping capabilities into a compact, sleek package. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a self-emptying dustbin, powerful suction, and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mops utilizes sensors to stay clear of obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. You can modify its cleaning schedule and customize zones using the app that is well-designed. It has a battery lifespan that is comparable to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to pull back and extend its mop. This can help avoid cross-contamination. Its flex arm can also be used to reach beneath furniture that is low and along baseboards. It's not as effective on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to clean an entire home with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It did a decent cleaning job on a variety of flooring and rooms with different flooring types including some area rug. Its obstacle detection was great and it stayed clear of fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
robotic hoovers 's a little more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.
3. iRobot Roomba X40
This mop and vacuum combination features a sleek, circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the boxy models of the competitors. It's among our most attractive robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also among its most advanced. It features advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads autonomously).
It's the only robotic mop or vacuum that scored a perfect 10 in our tests, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured lighting system and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot in our tests that can fully autonomously refill and empty its base station, and boasts an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This could be a problem in the mornings before work or during the night when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also quite expensive, but not as expensive as the Ecovacs MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are both equally impressive and attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient however it's more expensive and make more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a range of advanced features that make you forget about your chores. Like Ecovacs range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-off cleaning machine that can take the care of mopping and vacuuming. It comes with a multifunction dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dustbin, refills its water tank, cleans and dry its mop pads.
The smart robot uses a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't 100% reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused with power cords or obstructions.
The vacuum has a suction maximum of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to complete the task. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty the areas are.
If you have a larger home, you should consider selecting a model with a zones or spot cleaning modes. This allows you to tell the robot which area of your home needs to be cleaned using the app or voice control. A stair mode can be beneficial if you have lot furniture. For families with busy schedules, a recharge feature and resume feature that permits your robot vacuum to continue from where it left off can be very beneficial.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is more sophisticated than its price suggests. It's a pro at vacuuming, picking up 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has a reciprocating motion, which cleans better than most of the other robot mop cleaners we've tested. It's also extremely self-sufficient, with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying base that can be washed.
The well-designed iRobot app will guide you through an initial mapping exercise that collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or to organize the spot-cleaning. You can also use it to rank your most filthy areas for greater efficiency. The app offers a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
Its shape is more rectangular than most other robot vacuums, which means it can get to corners and under furniture more easily. It also has a powerful 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean which will thoroughly clean the area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek more affordable alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like cute little eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it's more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It is also noisier than other top robot vacuums that we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a small base station that can't be used as an emptying bin.
